Code of conduct for certified persons.
By accepting a CAS certification you agree, for the duration of the certification cycle, to the seven commitments below.
Seven commitments
Accepted by every certified person.
- 1
Comply with scheme requirements
Comply with the applicable certification requirements of the scheme under which you were certified.
- 2
Claim only your granted scope
Make claims about your certification only with respect to the scope for which it was granted.
- 3
Respect the CAS reputation
Do not use the certification in any manner that brings CAS into disrepute, or make any statement about the certification that CAS considers misleading or unauthorised.
- 4
Stop on suspension or withdrawal
On suspension or withdrawal of your certification, discontinue the use of all claims that contain any reference to CAS or to your certification, and return any certificate issued to you.
- 5
No misleading use of the certificate
Do not use the certificate in a misleading manner — including selectively quoting scope or status.
- 6
Report material changes promptly
Inform CAS, without delay, of any matter that can affect your capability to continue to fulfil the certification requirements (e.g. legal proceedings, change of role, loss of physical capability where required by the scheme).
- 7
Operate to professional standards
Act with integrity, fair presentation, due professional care, confidentiality, independence, and an evidence-based approach in any work performed under the scope of your certification.
Misuse of the certification mark
CAS will address any misuse of its certification mark by corrective measures, which may include suspension, withdrawal of certification, public corrections or legal action (§9.7.3). Where you have witnessed misuse, please report it via the complaints form.
