Public information & policies

How CAS Academy trains, examines and certifies people — and the policies behind it. Published openly, without request, as required of a personnel-certification body.

The certification process

From application to certificate, surveillance and recertification — under ISO/IEC 17024:2026 §9.

  1. 1

    Apply

    §9.2

Submit your application online, agree to comply with the certification requirements and the code of conduct, and provide the information and evidence the scheme requires. You may declare any need for reasonable accommodation.

  2. 2

    Application review

    §9.2.3

We review your application against the scheme's application requirements and prerequisites and confirm your eligibility — typically within 2 working days.

  3. 3

    Train (where required)

    ISO 21001

Complete the training programme aligned with the scheme — virtual or physical — delivered under our ISO 21001-aligned educational quality system.

  4. 4

    Examine

    §9.3

Sit a proctored examination designed for the scheme by qualified examiners and graded against documented criteria by a panel independent of the training team.

  5. 5

    Certification decision

    §9.4

An impartial decision-maker — who did not participate in your examination or training — reviews the evidence and decides on certification.

  6. 6

    Certificate issued

    §9.4.7

On a positive decision we issue a tamper-resistant certificate with a unique number and a public verification URL.

  7. 7

    Surveillance

    §9.5

Where the scheme requires it, ongoing surveillance (e.g. CPD or self-declaration) maintains your certification between cycles.

  8. 8

    Recertification

    §9.6

Recertify at the interval set by the scheme — by re-examination or evidence of continued competence — to keep your certification valid.

What we publish (§7.2)

The information a personnel-certification body must make publicly available.

Scope of certification (§7.2.2 a)+
CAS Academy certifies the competence of individuals against the personnel-certification schemes published on our Programmes pages, each operated to ISO/IEC 17024:2026. The exact scope of each certificate is stated on its programme page and on the certificate itself.
Prerequisites (§7.2.2 b)+
Prerequisites (such as prior education, training or experience) vary by scheme. Each scheme's prerequisites are stated on its scheme page and confirmed during application review.
Application requirements (§7.2.2 c)+
Complete the online application for your chosen scheme; agree to comply with the certification requirements and code of conduct; provide the identification and evidence the scheme requires; and declare any request for reasonable accommodation.
Initial certification requirements (§7.2.2 d)+
Meet the scheme prerequisites, complete any required training, and pass the proctored examination. Certification is granted only after a positive, impartial certification decision.
Surveillance requirements (§7.2.2 e)+
Where a scheme requires surveillance, certified persons maintain their certification through the scheme's surveillance activity (for example continuing professional development or periodic self-declaration).
Recertification interval & requirements (§7.2.2 f)+
Each scheme states its certification validity and recertification interval. Recertification is achieved by re-examination or by evidence of continued competence, as defined by the scheme.
The assessment process (§7.2.2 g)+
Assessment is by a proctored written and/or practical examination designed for the scheme. Candidates confirm their identity, sit invigilated examinations, and are graded against documented pass criteria by examiners independent of the training team. Examination security and confidentiality are protected per §7.4.

Common questions

Is CAS Academy accredited?+
CAS Academy operates a documented management system aligned with ISO/IEC 17024:2026 (personnel certification) and ISO 21001:2025 (educational organisations). Accreditation is in progress with EOS, NQI, EGAC and IAF; until granted, certificates are issued under CAS Academy's own competence and are not described as accredited.
How do you keep the process impartial?+
A documented impartiality framework identifies and manages conflicts across the candidate, trainer, examiner and decision-maker relationship. Examinations are graded independently of the training team, and certification decisions are made by an impartiality-protected decision-maker who was not involved in your examination or training.
How is my information protected?+
Per ISO/IEC 17024:2026 §7.3, information you provide is treated as confidential and managed under documented data-privacy and protection policies. We only disclose certification status on request (§7.2.1), and other information is released only with your agreement or where required by law.
How do I raise a complaint or appeal?+
Use the Complaints page (about a certified person or our service, §9.9) or the Appeals page (to challenge a decision about you, §9.8). Both are handled impartially and confidentially, by people not involved in the matter.
